Commercial Project: Evaluation Blog Post #10 - Reflection on Final Product
Reflection:
How well does the product meet the brief?
The final product meets the brief since it completed what it set out to do, which is to showcase how Xbox Series X is better than PlayStation 5.
How is the audience engaged?
The audience is engaged since I put music in the background and switch the music midway to spice the commercial even more, which keeps young audiences engaged. Another way is the fast pace of the commercial, yet again keeping young audiences engaged. A third way I kept audiences engaged was through the dialogue/storyline of the commercials, since everyone has days where they're bored and want to play, which keeps all gamers of all ages engaged.
Integration of Conventions & Technologies:
I used genre conventions like the close-up shot (with the Xbox Series X console), rhythmic editing (like shorter shots when I was choosing which game to play or longer shots when I was showcasing the Xbox Series X), eye-level camera angles (like when I was choosing the game I was eye-level with the TV), and a tracking shot (I used the tracking shot to showcase the Xbox Series X).
I used many different technologies throughout my commercial. I filmed on an iPhone 11, I used a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X to contrast each other, I edited on Capcut, I layered royalty-free music from Capcut's collection of songs, such as the opera song that the commercial played when the Xbox showed up.
Strengths & Areas for Improvement:
Some of the strengths are the mixing of the story of the commercial with the music. Some of the areas of my commercial that need improvement are some of the film work.
